'Stuff' and Life energy...
Bear with me a few minutes... there is something that is trying to emerge about 'stuff' and Life...
For several years I have been simplifying my life of 'stuff'... partly from a sense of mortality and not wanting other to have to 'deal' with the 'stuff' I leave behind... As time went on I found myself letting go of more and more 'stuff'... to the point where I moved to Denver by placing some 'stuff' in my car... another 'stuff' item... and sent some valued 'stuff' like some books and clothes in boxes ...
So when I arrived in my new apartment, it felt empty and needed some 'stuff' to make it feel more like a comfortable space.... a home... so I got some new and used 'stuff' that I sensed was needed in the new space... but this time, while I got what I liked, I feel much more detached from the 'stuff' that it here... it's more of a stewardship thing... okay I'll take care of it and use it for a time and then someone else will have it to use... that's all...
There is also something deeper and almost ironic, if that's the right word... It seems that the more I was able to let go of 'stuff' it was also like letting go of the past...in some mystical energetic way... so by detaching, I feel more present in this Now space.... in the present... and am able to relate with all the dynamics and 'stuff' in my present life from a somewhat more clear space... the 'stuff' I have accumulated in 3 months are things that I sensed were needed for his time... and when the space told me it was right... then I didn't need to look any longer... there are no 'wants' for more...
A lack of attachment to 'stuff' helps me wake each day with the reality that indeed it is a brand new day... yesterday is indeed gone... today will bring new adventure and opportunity... to be here and enjoy the moment of Life we are gifted.

Henry David Thoreau would agree with you. He wrote, "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity. I say let your affairs be as one, two, three and to a hundred or a thousand . . . We are happy in proportion to the things we can do without."
