The Jungian Approach with Marion Woodman [video]

From 1975 to 1977, I formally studied the Jungian approach to therapy through the language of the soul... the dream world... since that time I have both practiced and used dreamwork in personal development as well as in helping others find their way home... Jungian studies and dreamwork took me to new levels of understanding and living the oneness of Life, the integration of spiritual and the 3D world of our existence... Finding our true voice may happen in many ways... dreams are a way to unlock the unconscious... and to move toward synthesis and wholeness....

In this video, Jungian Analyst Marion Woodman describes her approach to therapy, which she says, comes from the unconscious. She goes on to define and explain the unconscious and how it starts with a dream. The dream is a picture of the unconscious and what you do through the day is mirrored in the dream at night.

Flipping the switch... Illumination!

When we enter our home at night, illumination comes as we flip a switch... and the lights come on!

So, the question is: "Can we find illumination just as quickly when we face a decision or issue that calls for a response?"

Each day brings with it the sunrise. The mystery flaming torch that lights our days and is absence to us at night. There is a rhythm to this magical globe of illumination that comes and goes in cycles. We take it for granted since that is our experience and has always been our experience.

This is the nature of our world in which the sun with its light and energy illuminates our environment and produces growth and change. Without the sun and earth in the proximity that exists, life, as we know it would not exist.

The illumination that comes into our consciousness is also like a light of knowing, bringing clarity to us to some extent... even though the mystery always exists.

Answers and messages come in the light of day and also in the light of night through dreams in which our highest Self, that aspect of our being is tranmitting symbols and messages from other less conscious aspects of who we are.

The dream scene may be trying to convey some reality and energetic dynamic that our egoic mind may not be aware of and in fact may actually be guarding against its entrance to our consciousness. Now the egoic mind is not 'bad' or 'negative.' It is the result of learning survival in our earth world and as it has built a strong fortress, it also has developed a might defense against change to varying degrees depending on each person.

In fact, a night 'terror' or 'nightmare' may actually be some bit of illumination trying to get past the defensive walls of the ego. We experience this as fear in the night and in our body and when it actually may be the ego using fear to inhibit change and expansion of awareness.

Dreams are one avenue for illumination.

Another path of illumination is our intuition and active imagination. In intuition we tune into our body and sensations and answers coming into our consciousness beyond the reasoning mind. This may be the experience in relaxation and meditation in which we still the mind chatter and let go of trying to "figure it all out."

In active imagination, we may do a day-dream type journey to the top of a mountain where we meet up with a wise person with whom to talk. Another method is to visualize looking at clouds or entering the clouds and asking our guides , God, or Higher Self a questions and allow an answer to emerge from the unseen... answers from the unconscious. Answers may come in the form of symbols, words, images, or simply a knowing in our body. The trick is often to trust what we receive before the egoic mind starts to analyze and bring in doubt and confusion.

Another more 'acceptable' form in our societies is to do the research, think it through, do the mental work of understanding and learning as much as we can about the focus of our inquiry. Then in the periods of incubation and silence, there sometimes pops an answer, a solution, an option we had not considered. This may be seen as building a point of mental tension in which the creative spark and impulse may leap across the mysterious chasm of the unknown into our consciousness. Many inventors find their genius-ness in this very way...

Illumination is that which brings clarity in the confusion and light into the darkness. It brings 'out of the box' answers and a new and fresh beginning of sorts.

Where does clarity come from? From the mystery it seems... from the mind that is One mind... from the unified field that transcends egoic defenses and breaks into our consciousness from time to time... In essence, we may say that all is energy and all is mind and all is connected...so, clarity and illumination bridges the spiritual and material and shows us the oneness beyond duality.

Each of us can flip the switch and have the lights come on... trust the larger mind to which we all have access... of which we all are included in the One Life Energy...

Much Love,
John Hutchinson

"Unconscious and evil"

October 10, 2012

This morning I woke with the theme of “Unconscious and Evil” in my awareness... so, here are a few thoughts to consider...

One of the reasons that it is important to become more aware and conscious is because that which remains below the level of awareness or consciousness can and often does tend to control our behavior, feelings, and thoughts. This may result in ways that may not be in our best interest or in the best interest of others.

“Evil” is another word for that which seems rather negative to us in its energy, intent, and actions. It is most likely driven by unconscious energy which was caused by a major trauma, attack, and abuse in the past. Anger, hate, and other very negative feelings and behaviors are generally indicators of a deeply painful past. To project “evil” on some “Devil” or enemy out there is to deny the shadow aspects that are present in all.

We are survivors and many actions and behaviors are the fruits of the desire to survive and to get what we want or need. And there is a difference between want and need of course. We experience that want to grab what others have from childhood onward.

We retain the energy memory of those things that created frustrations and pain in our emotional body. Something Eckhart Tolle has termed the “pain body.” As long as we are identified with these energies from the past or reacting to them in some unconscious way, we are more likely to be living our lives in less than satisfying ways.

If we have a need to retell the stories from the past that were traumatic for us, it may be a way of simply feeding the pain body and keeping us from being more fully in the present. Some sharing is important as we release those negative energies from the past. Continual focus will grow the pain body stronger.

Studies have shown that what we focus upon or say actually emits frequencies that create various degrees of harmony and chaos in water molecules  [Dr. Masaru Emoto, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAvzsjcBtx8 ]

Let us focus upon positive and harmonious thoughts and words so we may emit these frequencies through our being and into the world around us.

“Evil” is an interpretation of unconscious action that is neither harmonious nor peaceful. It perhaps is the extreme of unconsciously motivated behavior. Whatever the original actions were that brought about such unconscious actions, we can only make changes in our lives and help impede negative actions of others which might harm life on the planet. Of course this is why all social order has seen the need for laws, guidelines, and moral codes.

Change does happen. It has happen for each of us in some way. Let us be open to ‘seeing’ that which was unconscious and make choices in the best interest of ourselves and others going forward. Let us be diligent in our present awareness.

Practice: Visualizations and meditation focused on cleansing our emotional body with light energy can be quite freeing. Forgiveness in the form of letting go of the past can help liberate us to be more fully present now. Contemplating and mediating on positive words and energies will help these energies grow within us and produce both internal and external effects. [love, joy, peace, harmony, beauty, etc.,]
